Endless Shedding? It Might Not Be as 'Normal' as You Think
What most pet owners accept as "just part of having a dog" could actually be a sign something's missing.

Fur. Everywhere.
On the couch. On your black pants. In your coffee. Tumbleweeds of it rolling across the floorboards five minutes after you vacuumed. Your car looks like the inside of a dog bed. You've given up wearing dark colours altogether.

You've tried the deshedding brush. The grooming gloves. The special shampoo that promised to "reduce shedding." Maybe you even invested in a robot vacuum just to keep up. And still, the fur keeps coming. Every single day.

At some point, you just accepted it. "That's dogs for you." "It's the breed." "It's just shedding season." (Except shedding season seems to last 12 months.)

But here's the thing. What you've accepted as normal might actually be your pet's body telling you something is off. And once you understand what's behind it, the solution is a lot simpler than another grooming tool.
What shedding is really saying
Every pet sheds. That's biology. Hair grows, reaches the end of its cycle, falls out, and new hair replaces it. Seasonal shedding is real - most breeds drop their undercoat as temperatures shift.

But there's a significant difference between normal seasonal shedding and the constant, year-round fur loss that drives most pet owners to distraction.

When a pet sheds excessively, it usually means one of two things: the hair growth cycle has shortened (hair falls out before it's fully mature), or the hair itself is weak and brittle (it breaks and falls rather than growing strong and staying put).

Both of these point to the same underlying issue. The hair follicle isn't getting what it needs to produce strong, healthy hair that stays in the coat where it belongs.

And what does the hair follicle need? The same thing your pet's skin needs. Essential fatty acids - specifically Omega 3 and Omega 6 - that most commercial pet diets don't deliver in adequate amounts.
Why better food hasn't helped
You might already be feeding a premium diet. Good ingredients, real protein, no fillers. And you'd expect that to cover the basics of coat health.

The problem is that omega fatty acids are heat-sensitive. They degrade during the high-temperature processing that turns raw ingredients into kibble or canned food. By the time the food reaches your pet's bowl, a meaningful portion of the omega content listed on the label has already broken down.

This creates what we call The Coat Nutrition Deficit - a gap between what the label promises and what your pet's hair follicles actually receive. The food looks complete. The coat says otherwise.

The Coat Nutrition Deficit is why grooming doesn't fix the problem. You can brush out loose fur all day, but if the follicles are undernourished, new weak hair just replaces it. It's why deshedding shampoos offer temporary improvement at best. And it's why the shedding doesn't respond to diet changes - because switching from one heat-processed food to another doesn't close the gap.

The hair isn't falling out because something is wrong with the hair. It's falling out because the follicle isn't getting the raw materials to build it properly.
The fix is simpler than you'd expect
Once you understand the Coat Nutrition Deficit, the solution is surprisingly straightforward. You don't need a different food. You don't need a special grooming routine. You need to close the gap between what the food provides and what the coat requires.

That means supplementing with essential fatty acids in a form that hasn't been degraded by heat processing. Omega 3, 6, and 9 - delivered directly, in the right ratios, in a bioavailable form your pet's body can actually use.
Omega 3 supports the inflammatory response around the hair follicle, reducing the irritation that triggers premature shedding
Omega 6 is the primary building block for strong, resilient hair structure and healthy skin cells
Omega 9 supports nutrient transport and cellular health, helping the follicle access what it needs
When these three are present in adequate levels, the hair growth cycle normalises. Hair grows stronger. It stays in the coat longer. And the shedding drops to what it should have been all along - manageable, seasonal, and nowhere near the level you've been living with.
What we built for this
This is exactly why we developed NAS Omega Oil 3, 6 & 9 - a concentrated essential fatty acid blend designed to deliver what commercial pet food processing removes.

Our formula provides a specific ratio of Omega 3, 6, and 9 from sustainably sourced oils, processed to preserve nutrient integrity. It's not a generic fish oil. It's a targeted formulation built to close the Coat Nutrition Deficit and support coat health from the inside.

It's highly palatable - most pets eat it happily mixed into their food. Multiple owners specifically mention their dogs licking the bowl clean once the oil is added. No hiding it in treats. No wrestling with capsules. Just a pump on their food, once a day.

We've been making natural, science-backed pet health products in Australia for over 20 years. Our Omega Oil range is now Australia's #1 selling omega oil for pets - and when you look at the coat transformations owners are reporting, it's easy to see why.

Fair questions
How quickly does the shedding reduce?
Most owners notice a difference in coat texture and shedding volume within 2-4 weeks. Full coat transformation - including thickness, shine, and reduced loose hair - typically develops over 4-8 weeks of daily use.
Does it work for all breeds?
Yes. Whether your pet is a heavy-shedding double-coated breed or a short-haired dog with thinning fur, the underlying omega deficiency works the same way. The formula supports all coat types across dogs and cats of any age.
Will my house actually be less hairy?
Realistically, your pet will still shed - that's normal biology. But the excessive, year-round shedding that coats every surface? That's the Coat Nutrition Deficit, and yes, closing it makes a significant, noticeable difference. Your lint roller will finally get a day off.
Can I use it with other supplements?
Absolutely. Omega Oil works well alongside our Gut Balance Probiotic, Dental Powder, and other NAS products. Many owners use two or three together as part of a daily health routine.
What sizes are available?
200ml, 500ml, 1L, and 5L. The 5L is popular with multi-pet households and owners who've seen the results and know they're not going back.
One pump. Less fur.
The Coat Nutrition Deficit doesn't close on its own. But closing it is about as simple as pet care gets. One pump of NAS Omega Oil on their food, once a day. Ten seconds. Done.

Within weeks, you'll start to see it. Stronger coat. Less fur on the couch. Less fur on you. A pet that looks like they just came from the groomer - every day.

NAS Omega Oil 3, 6 & 9 is sustainably sourced and formulated right here in Australia. Available in multiple sizes, so you can start small and scale up when you see the difference.
